• Enhanced Inoculation Efficiency: In gray iron production, maintaining an optimal sulfur level is crucial for the effectiveness of inoculants, promoting the formation of uniform graphite flakes and preventing "chill" (unwanted carbide formation).

• Improved Machinability: For free-cutting steels and certain iron castings, controlled sulfur addition helps create manganese sulfide inclusions, which act as chip breakers during machining, significantly reducing tool wear.
